This is official notice to all homeowners and tenant residents of Shirley.
Maine Criminal Law prohibits discarding litter in any manner or amount on a public way, except in a container or receptacle. Maine Law 17 MRS 2263-A.
If someone deposits trash in a manner that allows easy access for animals to tear open bags, it will be considered criminal littering and offenders could be reported to Law Enforcement.
Beginning April 30, 2026 all garbage must be in a container with a tight-fitting lid. Garbage Containers must be kept closed at all times to prevent litter, odors, and pest attraction.
